Strawberry Rum...Yummy

OK, so I hope it will be yummy.  Today, I started to infuse some rum with strawberries.  I saw a post from Bon Appetite (yes, I get posts from them on FB) about infusing liquor with your favorite summer fruit for a great drink...and I remembered that we used to do this at a restaurant I worked at.  My brother, actually, came up with the idea, bought a really big pretty infuser type thingy (wish I had a pic of it), chopped up some fresh pineapple and dumped in the vodka.  People loved it.  And so, I was reminded of this idea and decided to try it myself.

First, my husband chopped the strawberries (I was holding a baby at the time...so he was generous enough to lend a helping hand):

And then we poured in the rum (I prefer the taste of rum to vodka)

I mean, how easy is that???

My container is not a pretty one, but I'm hoping it will do the job.  The covered container is sitting in the back of my fridge (a cool, dark place) and I am supposed to go back and shake it every couple of days.

So, next weekend, I will drain the liquor our of the strawberries and add it to fresh lemonade topped with fresh strawberries...let's hope it works b/c I am drooling just thinking about it.

Coffee...and blogging

Went to heat up my coffee earlier today only to find my coffee from yesterday still in the microwave!!  Guess the beeping actually stops reminding you that there is something in there...I really do miss my nice, hot coffee in the morning...and the next cup and the cup after that.  Again, I think I should just make some iced coffee so that there are no misleading ideas about what HOT means!!

OK, so, to blog or not to blog...that is the question.  When I started this, I thought I would just write some stuff down and send it out into cyber space and hope that I reached an audience of Mom's who could learn something and/or laugh.  It's only been a few weeks, but I have learned a couple things about this whole blogging thing and # 1 is that you need people to actually read it, right??  And so, when I say that I will be as  honest as possible, I am finding that it might not always be the case.  Because, you see, some people read this and think it's about them...or I might say something about someone and they take the wrong way so I find I am editing myself even here.  I just wanted to blurt everything out there!!  Can I really do that??  Nope, I don't think so.  So, when I say I will be as honest possible, it will have to be about me...yup, just me and my kiddies and my hubby.  I think...I don't know...If you think you are in here, please don't take offense to what I'm writing about, ok??  OK??? And most likely, it's not you I'm writing about!!

Also, I still don't know how to link other blogs to mine...so I'm still learing.

And- who even reads this crap...are you fed up with me by now??  what do you want to hear about??  do I need to include more pics??  are these things too long for you to read??  I want to hear from you?? Are you getting anything out of this??  I am, so it doesn't really matter if you are (well, I still like to know).  Wow, I'm a needy blogger, huh??  Oh, and how many entries in 1 day is too many??  Do you do more than 1 entry or should I just stick to my one and sometimes every other day??  I think it is what you make of it but, I just like to hear what you all have to say...so let me know!!

Random Crap...

Yup...I have no specific topic today...just rambling:)

Got the septic pumped yesterday morning so that we could all flush the toilets and run the water...oh, and wash dishes and clothes and things like that...nothing important:)  More money down the drain...(no pun intended...ha ha ha).

Franny girl got checked out and she does not have an ear infection!!  YEAH!!!  Thinking a tooth or some teeth are coming in.  So, she has been drooling like a big dog and spitting up more frequently...speaking of spitting up...Max, in all his cuteness, was trying to burrough himself onto my lap while she was sitting there and low and behold, Franny just lets it all come out of the mouth and onto his head!!  And, of course, Max was totally skeeved out by it b/c he is really anal and retentive and sensitive to being dirty and/or sticky.  Ha...we will have to re-introduce sand to him so that we can go to the beach again this year!!

Got the call last minute to go pick up my neice at daycare yesterday.  My kids were in their glory...this cousin is like a prize that walks into the house for the big 2 kiddies.  They try and woo her to do what they want to do and hope she 'picks' them so that they can hold it over the other big kids head.  And than you have Max who doesn't want her to touch anything in HIS playroom!!  I think Franny girl enjoyed being shoved back into her infant seat b/c she fell asleep and I didn't have to wake her to come into the house!!  Yes, folks, the little heffer (is that an oxymoron??) weighs in at 22 pounds, 12 ounces and she's only 7 mos. old!!!!!!

Today, we had another baby come and play with us...he sure is cute!!  But Franny girl and Max both felt the tug of another baby in the house...and Franny girl had 'bottle' envy of J's bottle...so I made her one and she played/ate with it so that I could actually feed the baby who really wanted the food!!  Oh, and Max did help feed both babies!!

This is what happens after lunch!!  And the Baby J slept at the same time, so I snuck into the shower really really quickly.  It had to be done b/c you see, the grease was starting to slide down my face from my hair and it was really unattractive...oh, and, the jungle had to be mowed from the pits b/c Max thought so!!!!

Baseball cancelled on the first night it stops raining.  lol  I'm actually glad it was cancelled b/c I really don't like the field it was supposed to be on!!  There is no bathroom, no concessions and we are literally playing in lots of peoples back yards...so, Thank You for cancelling!!!
